CAM Convert & Archive Materials
The library offers equipment to convert and archive your analog media to digital. This is a service designed to meet the community's needs when it comes to the ever-changing technology that can be used to preserve personal histories. The types of materials we work with are: Visual (photos, negatives, and 35mm slides), Audio (33/45/78 rpm vinyl records and cassette tapes) and Video (VHS tapes, camcorder tapes, and 8 mm/Super 8 film).
The cost is FREE if you convert the materials yourself. You may use the equipment in the library's makerspace anytime, or request an appointment for assistance.
We also offer a full-service option for a fee. The fee varies depending on the length of time needed to complete your project. For example, it costs $3.00 to convert one VHS tape. We are happy to offer you a quote in advance.
Contact Sarah French at 262-458-2785 or sfrench@whitewater-wi.gov with questions, for a full-service quote, or to make an appointment.
Note: Do not use any of the equipment for illegal or unauthorized reproduction of copyrighted materials or content you have no right to reproduce or distribute. This equipment is for preserving your personal content only, such as home movies.
